Delano took its name in 1871, when it was a cattle town on the west bank of the Arkansas River along the Chisholm Trail, and Wichita annexed it in 1880. Today Douglas Avenue through Delano is lined with restaurants, bars and local shops, and the clock tower roundabout at Douglas and Sycamore stands along it. Equity Bank Park, Exploration Place and the Advanced Learning Library all sit within the neighborhood.
